What Is A French Drain?
A French drain is essentially an area of low pressure beneath your basement floor. Since water naturally moves from areas of high pressure to low pressure, this system draws in any water around your foundation.
We create this low-pressure zone by digging a trench around the perimeter of the foundation, underneath the basement floor. By removing the dense, high-pressure soil and replacing it with crushed stone (which is about 40% empty space) and a 4" perforated PVC pipe (which is 100% open inside), we create an ideal path for water to flow into—away from your home.
Our French drains are the largest in the industry: 15–18 inches wide and 10–12 inches deep. Why the range? Because the exact dimensions depend on the size and depth of your home’s footer—and that varies from house to house.
But beware…not all French Drains are created equal. Click Here to see how different types of French Drains compare. You might be surprised at the difference.
