Air Quality In The Delaware Valley

Basement Waterproofing may be the first step towards a healthy home, but it isn't enough by itself to get the job done.  Air Quality is essential for a healthy home and a healthy family.   There are 3 main steps towards clean air in a home.

STEP 1: Reduce Moisture.  The CDC, EPA, NIH, and ALA have set a target RH (Relative Humidity) range of between 30-50%.  We speak about moisture management in terms of LAYERS.  Just like in the wintertime - the more layers you have on, the more protection you have from the cold.  Similarly, the more layers of moisture management you utilize, the more protection you will have.

STEP 2: Expel Pollutants. Your house is full of pollutants.  Carpets off gas chemicals.  Paint cans and household cleaners release VOC's into the air.  Mold and mildew from your basement come up into the living space.  There are pollutants all around you.  You'll never get high air quality until you expel the pollutants.

Step 3:  Bring in clean air.  After you have reduced the moisture and expelled the pollutants out of the house, the next step is to introduce clean air into your living space.   Outdoor, above grade air is 5X's cleaner than the air in your home, so that is the air you want coming in as your makeup air rather than dirty air from your foundation level.

But the next logical question to ask is…HOW DO WE ACCOMPLISH THESE STEPS?

The answer lies in the 3 layers offered below.
